People have been producing energy from Biomass for centuries, and in many parts of the world it is still the principle source of heat. Modern technologies are far more efficient at burning biomass fuels than open fires and an increasing range of fuels are being utilised.
Wood chip boilers have the benefit of being able to accept low or zero cost fuels for commercial and business applications.
Biomass includes forest products, untreated wood products, short rotation coppice (SRC) e.g. willow, miscanthus (elephant grass).
Applications for Biomass:
Wood pellets are a manufactured, compact form of wood fuel, which have a low moisture content and have a high energy density. Although wood pellets are more expensive than wood chip, they are easier to handle and ideal for automated systems.
The type of fuel you choose has a direct effect on the equipment and the storage space required.
The principles and technologies of wood pellet and wood chip boilers are very similar however wood pellet boilers are lighter in design than wood chip boilers and as a consequence wood pellet boilers are typicaly lower in price.
Consept, System Design, Installation and Commissioning
MGS has experience of designing installing and commissioning stand-alone biomass and combined technology systems in a wide range of new build and industrial projects.
We are able to take your project from concept through to commissioning or assist in any part of the project.
Our tendering department is always pleased to receive tender enquiries for pre specified projects.
We would be happy to discuss your project with you.
