Germany to switch to 100% renewable electricity by 2050
Germany is striving to produce 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2050, a bold statement but it may be achievable according to an article in the guardian newspaper (7th July 2010). The Germans introduced feed in tariffs in the 90’s which has had a very positive effect on encouraging the German population to install renewable energy systems.

In the UK we are 20 years behind the Germans but with the recent introduction of the UK feed in tariff (April 2010) a lot of interest is being shown in both domestic and commercial PV installations.

This will not only help the UK become less  dependant on other countries supplying us the fuel  to run our power stations it also reduces CO2 emissions and can prove to be a very good financial investment.
